AZURE SECURITY ASSESSMENT

Comprehensive Security Assessment for Microsoft Azure Environments

Microsoft Azure provides organizations with scalable cloud infrastructure, applications, data services and enterprise identity capabilities. As Azure environments grow, security becomes increasingly dependent on how Entra ID, IAM, virtual machines, storage, networking and cloud services are configured and governed.

Excessive privileges, insecure configurations, publicly accessible resources and weaknesses in identity controls can increase the risk of unauthorized access and cloud workload compromise.

Consultants Factory’s Azure Security Assessment evaluates the security posture of Azure environments to identify misconfigurations, excessive privileges and other cloud security weaknesses.

Our assessment combines structured cloud-security review with technical validation appropriate to the authorized scope.

The service-line reference specifically identifies Entra ID, IAM, Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking and Cloud Services as key Azure assessment areas.

Key Security Challenges We Address

Assess Entra ID and IAM controls to identify excessive permissions, inappropriate privilege assignments and identity-security weaknesses.
Identify insecure or inconsistent configurations that may increase exposure of Azure resources.
Assess publicly accessible services and resources to identify unnecessary external exposure.
Review applicable Azure networking and access controls to identify weaknesses in resource connectivity and segmentation.
up, network-access and connectivity controls to identify weaknesses in AWS network security.
Assess applicable controls protecting virtual machines, storage, applications and sensitive cloud resources.

Our Approach

1. Azure Environment Discovery

We begin by understanding the AWS environment and establishing the technical assessment boundary, including AWS accounts, regions, major AWS services, compute and storage resources, VPC architecture, internet-facing resources, IAM structure, cloud workloads, and existing security controls. This provides visibility into the AWS environment and its major security boundaries.
Objective: Establish visibility into the AWS environment and identify key security areas requiring assessment.

2. Entra ID & IAM Assessment

We assess Azure identity and access controls, including Entra ID, users and groups, roles, privileged identities, administrative access, MFA, role assignments, service identities, least-privilege implementation, and access relationships. We evaluate whether access is appropriately aligned with business and technical requirements.
Objective: Reduce identity-related security exposure and excessive privilege.

3. Network & Public Exposure Assessment

We assess applicable Azure networking controls, including virtual networks, subnets, Network Security Groups, routing, public IPs, internet-facing services, network access, and administrative interfaces. Where authorized, exposed resources can also be validated to understand their actual security implications.
Objective: Strengthen Azure network security and reduce unnecessary exposure.

4. VM, Storage & Cloud Service Security

Depending on the agreed scope, we assess virtual machines, storage resources, databases, cloud services, application workloads, resource permissions, sensitive-data access, and security configurations. The assessment focuses on identifying weaknesses that could lead to unauthorized access, data exposure, or workload compromise.
Objective: Protect Azure workloads and data against unauthorized access and configuration-related risks.

5. Reporting & Remediation Guidance

We consolidate identified security gaps into an actionable report covering technical evidence, affected resources, security impact, business impact, risk classification, remediation recommendations, and risk-based priorities. This provides technical and management teams with a clear understanding of the identified risks and required actions.
Objective: Provide clear direction for strengthening Azure security controls.
