Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provides organizations with powerful cloud infrastructure, data platforms, application services and scalable workloads. As cloud environments become more interconnected, weaknesses in IAM, projects, storage, compute, networking or cloud services can create security exposure.
Misconfigured permissions, publicly accessible resources and inappropriate cloud access controls can increase the risk of unauthorized access, data exposure and workload compromise.
Consultants Factory’s GCP Security Assessment evaluates Google Cloud environments to identify vulnerabilities, insecure configurations and identity or access-control weaknesses.
The assessment is structured around the service-line areas of GCP Projects, IAM, Storage, Compute, Networking and Cloud Services.
Key Security Challenges We Address
IAM & Privilege Management
Assess GCP identities, roles and permissions to identify excessive privileges and inappropriate access.
Project-Level Security Risks
Review relevant project structures and security boundaries to identify configuration and access-control weaknesses.
Public Data & Resource Exposure
Identify storage, applications and other resources that may be unintentionally accessible beyond their intended audience.
Network Security Weaknesses
Assess relevant VPC, firewall and connectivity controls to identify inappropriate access paths.
Cloud Workload Security
Review applicable compute and cloud-service security controls protecting business workloads and data.
Our Approach
1. GCP Environment Discovery
We establish visibility into the GCP environment and define the assessment boundary, including GCP projects, cloud services, compute resources, storage, networking, IAM, internet-facing resources, and critical workloads. This provides a clear understanding of the environment and its key security boundaries.
Objective: Understand the GCP environment and establish the assessment boundary.
2. IAM & Identity Security Assessment
We assess applicable identity and access controls, including IAM roles, users and identities, service accounts, privileged access, role assignments, permissions, MFA and identity controls, workload identities, least-privilege implementation, and cross-resource access. The assessment helps identify inappropriate or excessive access and strengthen identity security.
Objective: Identify excessive permissions and strengthen identity-based security controls.
3. Network & Exposure Assessment
We assess applicable GCP network controls, including VPC architecture, subnets, firewall rules, public exposure, network connectivity, internet-facing resources, administrative access, and cloud connectivity. This helps identify unnecessary exposure and potential weaknesses in network security boundaries.
Objective: Reduce unnecessary exposure and strengthen network security boundaries.
4. Storage, Compute & Cloud Services
Depending on the agreed scope, we assess compute resources, Cloud Storage, databases, managed cloud services, application workloads, resource permissions, sensitive-data access, and security configurations. The assessment focuses on protecting workloads and sensitive information from unauthorized access and exposure.
Objective: Strengthen protection of GCP workloads and sensitive information.
5. Security Reporting & Remediation
